Stummie Retirement Party

Hi Everyone,

I posted before that Mrs. Stummie was retiring at the end of the school year last year. Apparently that didn't happen. I got an email from Angie Jeppeson Paxton telling me that she has confirmation this time that Mrs. Stummie and her husband are retiring at the end of this school year. For those who are in town and would like to attend, she and a few others are planning a retirement party. It will be on May 15th. I will give you more details as I get them. In the meantime, if you would like to help with the planning of the party or would like to contribute to a retirement gift, you can contact Angie at angfla@hotmail.com. Thank you to all the the well wishes when my dad passed away on January 8th. He loved working in the school system and he loved all the students. Thanks for giving him so many good memories! It you have any fun memories I would love to hear them!

Mrs. Stumme

I just got an email from Marisa Parkinson that I wanted to let everyone from the class of 97 know about.  Mrs. Stumme is retiring at the end of the school year.  For those of us, like me, that have a lot of really great memories of high school drama, this is your chance to write them down and send them to Mrs. Stumme with a big thank you.

Hi Everyone,

This blog is such a good idea. It has been fun to see pictures and find out info about how everyone is doing. I thought I would post and give an update on me and my little family. After graduation I went to Ricks College and then to Utah State University. I met my future husband Ben Burbank, a graduate of Preston High, while going to school there. In case anyone is wondering, he does know Ben Harris. He wrestled for Preston as well. I know I'm a traitor, but I don't hold it against him! :) We were married in the Salt Lake temple a few days before September 11th.

I graduated in Elementary Education from Utah State and immediately after, Ben and I moved to Dallas, Texas to sell pest control. We planned to return to Logan and have Ben finish his schooling, but we decided to stay in Texas because there were more jobs for a teacher just starting out. I taught fourth grade while Ben got his degree in business. Ben works as a project manager in downtown Dallas and I stay home and care for our two sons.

It is sure a different world living out here in the big city and there are times when I really miss Sugar City and all of our old friends. It is nice to have a way to keep up with you all. I have never add my info on the blog. Could never figure it out.:) But as you can see i figured it out. This is my wonderful family. Kenadee is the oldest she will be 10, then Dallin he will be 8, Then Emalee she is 3, Last but not least Jaren he will be 2. We are living out in Salem on 3 acres with 3 dogs, 6 cows, 1 horse, and a couple of cats that come and go as they please. It is fun to see how all of our families are growing and that we are keeping the blog going when we can find time or if we finally figure it out. I hope everyone and there families are doing great.

Haacke Update

Here in Iowa still and loving it. I know I mentioned how cold it was, but now that is over and I am enjoying the warm weather. Heather, Jeremy and I had a vacation to Myrtle Beach and we had such a good time. I am now busy at work (well not really considering I am writing this quick note) and excited about my job. (Economic Development for those that didn't know). We are currently building a speculative building for potential companies to look at. I am working hard for my church calling as well. I am part of the Stake Young mens and so we are planning our youth conference and that is taking a lot of the extra time I have. Heather and Jeremy are in Virginia visiting family and so the calling helps keep my mind of missing them, for I miss them a lot. Well, drop me a line if you would like. Almost 30

Wow, I only have a year till I am 30 now. I think me and Jason Ogden said that we were going to die Skydiving at 30 or something like that. Who knew we would actually get married and have so many kids? I hope all is well with everyone. Welcome to the blog Shelley. I wish the best for you as you help your family through this time. Looks like I am a few years late... :D

Hey everyone,

I don't know if anyone uses this anymore but I thought I would give it a shot. I was so bummed about missing the reunion, but my sister was getting married, so what do you do? I have had an interesting 11 years so I will give you some of the highlights! I graduated from Ricks College with an Associates Degree in Social Work. While I was at Ricks I found out that I had a brain tumor...in my pituitary gland. But, I feel very fortunate that it wasn't cancer! After months of treatment I found out that the tumor was gone. A year later I was preparing to go to USU to finish school when I found out the tumor was back. So I had more treatment and made it to Utah. I graduated from USU in Family and Human Development and I am also a certified Child Protection Caseworker. In Utah I worked for 7 years with people who have disabilities (downs syndrome, mental retardation, etc.) helping them find jobs and teaching them daily living skills. I totally loved it. But last year I ended up coming back to beautiful sugar city to help take care of my dad who is suffering with dementia and not expected to live for many more years. I also ended up getting really sick and am struggling with several chronic illnesses. But, I am doing better now and things are good. I would love to hear from you all! Keep in touch. u p d a t e

We are freezing. Iowa is a kick in the face. I can't believe how cold it is. It has rarely gotten above 10 degrees all winter. It is so cold that the other day I went to work and parked my car in the normal place, underneath the big tree at the front of our office building. Well, I covered my face to avoid frost bite and headed into the building. Suddenly I heard a crack. I looked up and saw that the tree had this crack splitting it in half. I looked down at my car and ran over to it and moved it to the other end of the parking lot. My car is fine, and the tree has not fallen yet, but I suspect that if it doesn't this winter it will next.

We don't get out much in this cold, we mostly stay inside. Shayla (Checketts) Smith stated that it is not a normal Iowa winter. I was glad to hear that.

I helped out this year coaching the boys basketball team this year. I have to admit I thought I had more time, and found that I couldn't put what I wanted into it. They were happy to have what little I could help out with. They were a good team and I enjoyed doing it. The season is over now and I am back focusing on work and family.

I was just home the other week because my grandmother past away and it was so much warmer in Idaho than Iowa. It was good to be back there and see the school and a couple of friends. I wish I had more time to see more of you. But that is just how life goes.

Hello Everyone

Just wanted to say hi and let everyone know how I am doing. I live in Preston, I am married (ten years in march). I have five children that range in age from 10 to 1. What was I thinking?

I work for a Software company in Logan, UT and do carpet installation on the side. I still like sports and I coach when I can, especially when my kids are involved. Hope to hear from some of you soon.

My Condolences on Shawn

I did search and rescue for a few years and I can tell you it's heart breaking to see family's when they find out loved ones aren't coming back, it may sound strange but at least they found him, and his family has closer, nothing is more heart breaking then not knowing what happened. My heart and prayers are with is family my he rest in peace.

well, not that anybody has been dying to know if we had our baby yet...but we did. I am so completely in love with this little girl that I am just showing her off to anybody I can...whether they want me to or not:)
Alexia Kay Olson was born November 19th, weighing in at 7lbs 2oz. and 21 inches long. she is absolutley adorable and we all love her to death. one of my hubby's co-workers took pics for us at the hospital...she is 6 hours old in the picture...and just cuter now!!:) gosh! who knew I would turn into such a sap when I had a daughter!!!

Suzanne Galbraith Templeman

Hi everyone, this is Suzanne Templeman, formerly Galbraith. I am glad that I finally got a chance to contribute to the class blog. By way of update, after returning home from Russia (missing our high school graduation - a sad day for me) I attended Ricks college for a year and married Greg Templeman from Toronto, Canada. Shortly after we were married, we moved up to Toronto and where I continued my degree and Greg finished his. We then moved to Provo so that I could finish my degree in Linguistics and Teaching English as a Second Language and we had Emma, who is now six. Shortly after I graduated, we moved to Oregon for Greg to continue his schooling and had another girl, AnnaBeth, now 4. After Greg finished his MBA we were relocated to upstate NewYork, where we currently reside. We have since had two more girls, Lydia 2, Nadia 6 mo. As a result, Greg has taken a greater interest in figure skating rather than hockey. We love the four seasons here. We get tons of lake effect snow, love the four distinct seasons and the rolling hills. We live close to Palmyra, are in the Palmyra ward, and live 20 minutes from the church sites. We have hosted friends and family many times and if you are ever in the area, please look us up.

I would not have missed the reunion for anything except a new born baby, which was the case - a fair excuse to miss a Digger reunion. I hope we have another one so that I can attend and catch up with everyone. As much as I love New York, Greg and I are buying land in Driggs so my dream of being back in Idaho might one day be a reality. If not, at least we'll have access to some great skiing when we visit!

Dixie (Vistercil), Trevor, Trustin, and Aleynah Bazil

Well, I finally got around to posting a blog. It was so good to be able to look through the blogs and see everyone's families and how everyone has changed. Well, a little about me, I graduated from Ricks, (as it will always be known to me) in 1999. I then moved to Pocatello where I met my husband Trevor. He was going to school at ISU. He is from Rigby. He graduated with his bachelors in art and secondary ed. We then moved to Boise where he did a year of grad school at BSU and I worked at a daycare to help him get through school. Then one very amazing day he got a letter in the mail saying that he got accepted to BYU-Provo. So we packed up and moved to Provo. He got his master of fine arts from there. While he was in school we had our son Trustin. He is now 2 1/2. He is currently going through the terrible twos. Ha, Ha. Then this last year we had our daughter Aleynah. She is all girl and just a very good girl. We are currently living in Caliente, Nevada where Trevor is an art teacher at C.O. Bastian High School which is inside of a juvenile detention center. I am currently just a stay at home mom and loving every minute of it. Well, that's a short story of my life. Hope all is well with all of you and your families. Till we meet again!
